Daniel Radcliffe has obtained a documentary about David Holmes, his stunt double on the Harry Potter films. An accident on set left Holmes paralyzed. Holmes, a teen gymnast, met Radcliffe on the set of the Harry Potter movies when they were both very young. They grew up together. But Holmes was paralyzed at what time an on-set accident on the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.

It’s a sad story, but Radcliffe’s documentary — entitled David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived — takes a determined angle on Holmes’ resilient journey. “It is unfair,” Radcliffe says in the trailer. “He shouldn’t have had to do any of that…This bad thing happened to Dave, but I don’t want to talk as if his life is a tragedy. The way his life has affected the lives of farmland around him means that it is the furthest pulling from that imaginable.”

As you can see, the documentary includes footage from above the run of the Harry Potter films. According to Ludus, the accident in expect involved a stunt where David Holmes was going to pulled into the air on a unfriendly, simulating a shockwave that sent Harry flying. But Holmes was pulled with too much assembled. He crashed into a wall and fractured his neck, resulting in lifelong paralysis.

Since then, Holmes has devoted his life to raising awareness about the work that stunt farmland do, founding his own production company and running a podcast where he interviews piece specialists. He has remained close with several of his Harry Potter castmates, including Radcliffe and others:

David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived premieres on HBO and Max on November 15.
